Unhappy

I am quite new to the scooby ownership game, bought a 97P WRX STi (V3 i think) 555 V-Limited edition in October, had 50k on the clock (all bar about 15 of that was kilometres). Recently been smelling burning after car has been driven and ocasionally in 5th under acceleration the car revs with no real action (I'm thinking clutch slip). Does this sound like the clutch, if so what is the best EVERY DAY use clutch to go for and where is best to go. I'm based in Berkshire?

Talk to Len at subaru4you. Don't know his number offhand but search in 3rd party suppliers and you should find it quite easily. Or try his website www.subaru4you.co.uk

I ran a standard UK clutch in my STi2 RA for two years, during which time it did about 30 track days, never slipped once, which surprised the **** out of me.

It had a paddle in it before that, which started slipping the day before I was due to do Rockingham with the MLR. Standard clutch (£110 for the full kit) was all I could get in time.

Red face

that was what they were quoting for parts, fitting and VAT, about the same as Graham Goode Racing. If I were a bit more confident I'd do it myself, but I have only ever don a clutch on an old Suzuki Swift about 10 yrs ago so an STi might be asking a bit much!!!
