I am running an STi III. The problem is the tappets (not sure how many) have become slightly noisy which is gettin up my nose . I was wondering if anyone has had and sorted this problem. If you have what sort of price might i be looking at to get them reshimmed and what, if any, problems might arise from leaving them as they are?

I had this problem with my 93 Legacy when I first got it (it didn't occur until 100 or so miles after I had bought it or maybe I would have missed a great buy), I bought some STP flushing oil, did what it said on the tin, did an oil and filter change, and have had no problems, I am now 25k down the road with oil changes every 6-7k.
I think it is something to do with irregular use and not enough good long runs.

Dogdogman,

Can you throw some more light on your identity, or at least on your motor?
