Question

Recently, my "Check Engine" light lights up from time to time and goes out after a while.
It happended first ca. 2-3 weeks ago. I know I am supposed to stop and contact my dealer, but I was on a business trip at the time and in quite a hurry, and when I started the car again 2 hours later, the light stayed out until ... well, yesterday.

Has someone experienced similar problems, I know there is a way of checking the error codes by putting to plugs under the dashboard togehter, but as search is down, I can't find out which plugs.

Any help is very welcome.

Dan

I had my engine check lights come on for approx 1mins while I was overtaking someone recently.
Frightened me to death!! did'nt no whether to stop or not, then it suddenly went off thank god!
I was going to do the check myself but like you I gave up when I saw those masses of wires
So I had it checked by my Dealer and had a sensor replaced under warranty.

This has been discussed a number of times on this board. DO a search on the topic as I remember someone gave all the codes of the check engine light and how to decipher them yourself....cant remember who it was but it was pretty thorough and very helpful.

Cheers.

Gerg,

Thought of that one myself, but "search" is down, or least I can't find the button anywhwere.

But I had a look at the site Gavn mentionned an everything is explained there. I'll just have to try it out this weekend.

Cheers and thanks for the help everyone.

Dan

Had it with my WRX. There is 2 wires under the dasboard. I think they are green. Plug em together turn the ignition on and count the blips long ones are tens short ones are ones if it comes out as 2 long ones 2 short ones (22) its ya knock sensor £80 and right Basket to change might i add unless you have a pair of unfeasbly long fingers or long nosed pliars which i have neither but i do now as the light has come on again 18 months later. Cheers Tony Blair for charging us the most for the worst fuel in Europe.... Possibly the world!
