Hi,
I am new to this forum and not very mechanicaly minded.
I am looking to upgrade the performance of my 98 2000 turbo est.
I also don't want to interfere with the reliability of the car.
I have been reading about ECUs and it seems you can only upgrade or remap the original ECU on the new style of Impreza, is this the case?
I would be looking at spending 2K on it, any sugestions.
Cheers

Is the car a UK model ? - Am guessing so, by description -

I've a 98 and have looked into this - the only ECU upgrade is Power Engineering Upgrade - could give up to 280 BHP - with other mods -

If the car is unmodded at the mo, I'd go for an air filter (possibly panel type - like a green) and a full de-cat - BUT - Spend some money on those awful 2 pot brakes that your 98 has !!!

I had mine swapped for second hand 4 pots of an 00, with larger disks, Ferodo DS2500 pads and braided lines

If you're interested, take a looksee at my web site

Cheers,

Mark

Cheers for the advice Mark.
I had a look at the web site link, I could only find info on ECUs on cars manufactured after 99.
Sorry if I am mistaken.

Cheers,
Justin

No dealings myself but no people who have and they seem pretty pleased.

Which exhaust system would you recomend.
I see a lot of good reviews about the scoobysport system.
Would I need a knock link? if I was toupgrade my ECU.

Cheers,
justin

Probably worth a knocklink / boost guage / AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) if increasing boost - just to keep yourself informed !

I went for a full TSL exhaust, (Down pipe, mid and back box), but Each to his own.... (I went for the Grpn backbox - Firestorm too Loud for me !!)
