I have used two dealers and they both give me the option for Mobil 1!! Shouldn't be an issue as long as they use the right viscosity!!
Try some other dealers round your way, there is bound to be one that will use Mobil 1!!
Hope this helps

Bryan,
Mobil 1 is 0-40W which is very thin, I've also been advised not to use it because it is so thin, but there is a Mobil 1 Motorsport oil which is fully synthetic and I think is 15-50W or 15-60W which I think would be OK. The only thing is it's not readily available from your local BP garage or motor shop. I know Demon Tweeks (01978 664466)stock it.
Good Luck

Mobil 1 0W40 is ideal for these conditions.
Main dealers can also get Mobil 1 5W40 which is Subaru only and will not affect the warranty.
If your main dealer won't use either of those, find a dealer that will.
Mike.

As Mike said, there are alot of dealers around that do offer the Mobil 1 5W40 which is warranty friendly and not too thin (though I've seen people say that in the winter the 0W40 is probably better for lube at start-up).
My local dealer said that because the 5W40 is not the standard visco. they have to order it in from Holland(?) in huge 1000 gallon containers, hence I guess why some dealers don't bother.
Hey, with Mobil 1 you even get an oil passport through the post to prove the servicing and oil used - yippee

Mobil 1 motorsport isn't that hard to get . I walked into my local Mobil distributor for some expecting to have to order it . He had boxes of it sitting in the store ! It was also well priced - £28 for 4 litres .

I have always followed IM/SUK to the letter and used Shell Helix, but following Pete Croney's recommendation (and due to no Silkolene at the time) I used Castrol Magnatec fully synth. Seems far better than the Helix, Engine runs smoother and freer, and even better - it only costs £21 for 4.5 litres

I too now use Magnatex as recommended by Sir Pete due to shortage of silkolene and i have been told on numerous occasions to avoid Mob 1 ( 0W )as its too thin for scoobies in all honesty the best thing to do is just change the oil at shorter intervals i.e every 3'500 miles it may not be cheap but neither are engines.
also which dealer are you using just out of interest.
Regards

Bryan,
An other oil possibility is FINA First 5W40. This oil is fully synthetic and must be available as well. This oil is basically the same oil as used by BMW-motorsports. BMW is using a 5W50 variant specially developed by FINA motorsports.
