Hi,
I'm fitting a MY 98 UK spec turbo engine into my kit car and have a question about the fuel pump.
Can anybody give me the specs of an aftermarket one I could use? I think I saw somewhere that it is boost sensitive, is this the case?
Or would it be easier in the long run to use the original scooby pump.
Thanks,
Rich

hey..

The fuel pump isnt pressure sensitive... you are thinking of the fuel reg.

The pump is a standard 12V unit.. as you arent running the stock tank.. use something like a facet or bosch.. that meets your fuelling requirements.

Simple

I'll have a look on the engine for it tonight, where exactly is it mounted?
From memory the top rigid line goes straight to the fuel rail on one side so I assume it will be in line with one of the other hoses.

Cheers for the reply, are these regulators expensive from a dealer? Just wondering I I should try and get the one from the dead Scooby....

Rich

PS Are dealers the only place to go to get standard spare parts?

Richard,

The fuel reg', is fitted to the fuel rails, so if you bought an engine complete, it should be there.

Mark,
It should be complete, what does the reg look like?
Also, can you tell me which pipes are which of the three rigid pipes connected to the engine assembly (the top one goes to one of the injector rails, the other two seem to disappear under all the plumbing, they are all connected to rigid lines mounted on the body via rubber hoses). If the reg is there, what is the third pipe for?
Also, am I correct in assuming that the cylindrical object inline with the top line is a fuel filter? I got it just in case, I found it inside the shell....

Thanks again,
Rich

Richard..

The shape is hard to describe.. lol

Has a flange on the side with two small bolt holes.. at the end there is a pipe connection.. at the other end is a small pipe connection..

I have a spare reg if you need one.

It bolts onto the fuel rail..on the drivers side... the end towards the back of the car.

Infront of the turbo.

Cheers J, that does ring a bell but I'll double check tonight.
Do you know what pressure and flow rate a stock car requires so I can choose a suitable pump?
