Cool

OK the time has come...I need more power

Originally I was planning on going the Link route but;

a) Although there will be an increase it won't be enough
b) I want to build a stronger engine to run really high power that will last!

This is my plan...at the moment...

Get my hands on a pair of closed deck blocks and have them re-bored/re-lined/glaze busted as required...if I can I'll get my hands on those nice Group N squeezecast liners.

Get a decent set of matched Con Rods and Pistons (any recommendations? - within reason ie Pat, not the Titanium rods...just yet at least)

Get a WRX/STi crank (is there a difference?) lightened, balanced and Nitrided

Get some decent bearings...god knows from where...

Get the cylinder heads gas flowed and ported, is it worth changing valves?

Fit modified/different cams and solid tappets/followers (again what's available cam wise?)

Change the injectors to suit...improving the fuel rail and pumping/regulation

Use the my existing '98 spec inlet manifold coupled to a hybrid TD05 Turbo

Change the topmount intercooler for something bigger/more efficient

Fit water injection before and after the intercooler

Get the flywheel lightened and balanced (with the crank) fit a Helix Clutch

Get the/a gearbox built with decent internals

Run a Link or Motec engine management system...

For the timebeing I think I'll run with the exhaust I've got (Scoobysport/Milltek) and flow the exisiting headers...

Oh yes, i must also remember to shim the oil pump, and baffle the sump

There, that should do it for now...

Comments please

This money tree that you have, where is it? And can I have some?

Seriously though. Do Prodrive do rebuilds? or would you have visit Scooby Sport.

When it comes to mapping, visit BRD. Front intercoolers apparently increase lag. So I would have thought you would get anything much bigger in place of standard.

You may need a larger diameter exhaust system.

The rest, haven't really got much of a clue.

Once it's built, tell us all the dyno results.

Talking

Sith, 'Money Tree' oh how I wish...I'll be building this up slowly buying bits as and when I can afford too. I'll do my best to assemble the engine myself, although I'm sure I'll need help (probably physciatric - youhoo... Anders) at some point

I may get some of the bolt on goodies and fit them to the exisiting engine, adding the bottom end when it either goes pop, or I'm ready...

Dan; Pat knows all about this we've been plotting privately

Eric; Sell my Hose? Well I know I'm impressive...but don't think I need to go that low
Might buy some MRT bits we shall see...

Gary; I think Prodrive will rebuild competition Gearboxes (G/box), but not sure about those for road cars, see Stef's 'Help!!!!' thread...

Keep 'em coming peeps

Seem to remember the last time you embarked on the search for more power. Seem to remember you LOST power

Now what mod was that ?. Seem to remember it included water.

Guess a "Marina" would be in keeping with your previous "water" ventures......
