I have decided to get a uprated TMIC for my MY95 STI RA, I can only see 2 makes which are APS and BPM.....firstly has anyone fitted one of these to an early STI, can I keep the front strut brace and is there any differences between these 2 makes!!

Cheers
Dom.

And MRT...which is in tests from Autospeed very good!
Better look at APS and MRT both bar and plate if I remember right.

Do you know if you actually need one? Have you measured the charge temperature?

To be honest John I'm not sure if I need to upgrade the intercooler, my car has a few mods which include link ecu package, full decat zorst, 550 injectors, uprated fuel pump and reg. and cone air filter!!!
I peak at about 1.5bar which drops to 1.25bar and have most of this boost before 3000rpm. I do a lot of track days and during a hard drive the knock link starts to light up and I have to back off....I thought this was due to the standard intercooler of my MY95 STI which is pretty small am I correct?

Sounds like a smallish turbo? Not sure which one it is on your car, tbh
But - if you do go for an uprated IC - it's really, seriously worthwhile getting a FMIC if at all possible. If you do have a high inlet charge temp & get a new uprated TMIC, the first thing you're going to want to do is do more of the same, i.e. get a front mount...

My car has a TD05 turbo, I also have the link automatic water spray module. I will probably get rid of the scooby at the end of next year so I don't want to spend loads more cash, but I do want to be able to do a dozen track days with out the knock link lighting up after a few spirited laps!!

I hope a better intercooler and a new remap from Bob will sort the above problem out without spending loads!

I'm more than happy with the power and performance of my car on normal driving, just a bit worried that she might let go on me.

Cheers

If you're thinking of saving ££ & the only time the knocklink really lights up is on track, wouldn't the easiest thing to do to be just stick in some NF for track sessions? Maybe not the most elegant solution, but I'd have thought it short sort it out?

Get an inlet temp sensor first to see what the charge temp is on track - it may not be the IC, it may be your map......

If you do need end up getting one, BPM is just an AVO one - do a search for AVO turboworld in Aus - much more reliable than BPM and cheaper too.....
