Fuel pump multi-plug connector

on my fuel pump connections there are four wires
1 thin blue
2 thick blue with yellow stripe
3 thin black
4 thick black
two appear to have been "played with"....
thick blue with yellow stripe has been cut,stripped back and soldered together again
(taped up with black sticky tape)
thick black one has been stripped back,no sign of any soldering,
has anybody any idea the reason this has been done? perhaps fuel cut switch or something??
