Booked the Scoob in to have the up-pipe replaced today and said I expected it to take a max of 3hrs. Get there at 08:20 leave the car with them. Get a call at 11:15 saying the nuts are a bit tight and that it will not be ready untill Monday.
So I go to have a look at 12:30 and all they have done is remove the heat shield and muller one nut. I had the heat shields off myself last weekend, in 20mins. I was about to ask to borrow their tools and do it myself!
I am currently a bit hacked off. Is it unfair to expect the job to be done inside a day? I think not!

the nuts on the turbo are prone to seizing up so can be a bit of a bu88er. they probably had the heat shields off in a reasonable time as well but once the main nuts go wrong if all 5 seize up then it could be an all day job but also remember your car isn't the only one they will have in with problems so thats why i expect it's getting behind.

Did they explain why it would take so long? Surely the nuts will be just as tight on Monday as they are today (apart from soaking in WD40)?

I think the one unreasonable thing was that they said 3 hours - 3 hours if all goes well, yes, but all going well isn't very realistic with an up-pipe! I would expect them to get it done within a day, though, but only once they know that they'll need a day to do it

I have recently fitted new headers and up-pipe and 'granted' the nuts are an @rse to remove but as already said giving em a good soaking before-hand with WD40 and using a decent 14mm socket you they shouldn't cause too much concern. They are probably just racking up the labour charges! Mine from start to finish took approx 5hrs including headers.

I've just booked my car in at ABP motorsport to get the downpipe swapped, they said at least 3 hours but it could run into half a day. They suggested I drop it off the night before to let it all cool down as its easier that way. Top blokes at ABP to be honest.
