Question

Is there anybody out there, who has had there car modified using a UNICHIP conversion. I am about to get one done and I am interested in any feedback.

The principal of the conversion is very sound. The chip enables the user to modify fueling and ignition (to the particluar boost set), so each car can be setup individually. This would surely stop the problems mentioned in other conversions, were fueling problems have been caused, giving pinking and even worse melt downs.

This is obviously a conversion that needs to take place on a rolling road!

I have been told by my GURU tuner, that by allowing this amount of flexibility, the boost limit can be raised to 19 psi (1.3 bar). This would take my standard WRX (except for super drager exhaust), to between 280-300 BHP!

Any comments?

Hello
I have the unichip fitted to my stiv3..
What you are saying about it being able to alter fueling and ignition are correct, but correct me if i'm wrong it can't control boost settings.

This can be done by either
1)bleed valve??
2)adjustable actuator?
3)electronic boost controller(very expensive)

I have an ebc on mine an with the unichip it is a good set up,but pound for pound I don't think you can beat the possum link.

BTW who's your guru tuner?
mail me offline if you don't want to disclose this LOL

Cheers jon

Shaun,

Hope you're speaking to Richie at Powerstation, he's a good honest guy, with Unichip experience.

There is infact an add on boost controller for the Unichip, but it's not commonly available over here yet, but comming soon from AUS'.

I would consider an induction kit,it should really improve the engine breathing, and is best done before the re-map.

I'm also curious to know who the "guru" is.

Mark.

Shaun,

Talk to RichiB at Powerstation (if you are not already).

I have had the Unichip on my Celica GT4 for nearly (month short) a year now. Mine was one of the first. And I'm 110% happy with it with bags of potential once I get around to doing the other mods. (read - get the cash).

Many of the GT4 and Pulsar GTi-R owners swear by the Unichip and wouldn't consider anything else (except a MoTeC :-)). I met a WRX owner at Powerstation a while back (5 months ?) who had just had a Unichip fitted (Is he here? Lee Something) and was very happy with it. Sorry, best I can do.

Let us know who your GURU is.

Cheers

Ian

Thanks for everybodys responses.

To all who asked and some that had guessed, Yes I am on about Rich/Dirk at Powerstation. I have been using them (for the purposes of rolling road diagnostics)for some 2 years now (back in the days when I had a Escort Cossie & RST). Every time I go up there they always have tried to convert me to getting a Scooby or Nissan (by getting me to test drive a different one of there import cars in stock on every visit). Well now I have!

No doubt they will be pleased to know, that other people think highly of them! I will have to ask for an advertising discount off my buddy Rich now!!!!

Richie,

Your just jealous because you don't own my RS Turbot - you know I once had a better car before - Hey that what happens when you get divorced!!!!!

Any more sound bites or interesting pictures? I was quite impressed by the operators calmness.

As soon as I pick up the WRX, I will give you a ring to arrange DYNO check.

Shaun.
