I have an MY97, and the waste gate keeps making an awful ticking noise.

Does this come under the warranty, or do I have to pay for it.

The "ticking" sound may be a feature, not a bug :-) Are you sure it's the wastegate actuator, or could it be the solenoid that controls the actuator? That definitely is designed to "tick".... my wastegate "chatters" a bit under full throttle, but not in an unpleasant way.

The solenoid on my WRX used to tick like mad so I got myself an HKS replacement with an EVC
