Lately I've experienced a whining noise from the car when launching it from traffic lights, the noise doesn't happen when you drive the car to high revs casually. Only when you give it some stick.

I traced the problem back to the powersteering pump/level. If the fluid gets within 1mm of being too low, it'll do it.

Obviously you shouldn't be losing PS fluid, but if you're not checkin your levels often enough to notice a small leak, you may experience this unpleasantness.
