Jon,
If you go mechanical or electrical you current boost solenoid will be redundant, so you don't ahve to worry about that.
Where are you getting the Profec A from? There are normally a good few on ebay at reasonable money. These are no longer avliable new tho, just the B and the E-01 (sp?) . Seems to be a fairly good choice but doesn't have all the nice features of say an Apexi AVC-R or the HKS EVC 5.
Tony.

tone loc, its online im getting it at a good price but have heard a few horror storys about setting them up...
im not after tons of features, all i want to do is set a boost limit and leave it at that really.
with an EBC will my fuel cut still come in at 1 bar or does the ECU not read it if i remove the solonoid??

The boost limit will still be there as the MAP sensor isn't removed.
As Paul says the AVC-R really is superb, but you could get a Profec A for maybe £100 but even a used AVC-R will set you back close to £300. Eiter of them will require some time to set up, from what i've seen of the Profec A you can only set this up in 0.2 bar jumps. I.e 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 bar boost etc. Not really a problem but i did want to run 1.3 bar.... typical
How much can you get the Greddy for if you don't mind me asking?
Tony.
Edited again because i really can't spell

MBC - Dawes is unbeatable VFM for a fixed boost profile with early spool.
EBC - AVC-R has all the features I need from a boost controller Looks pretty and is easy to set up too. Excellent piece of kit IMHO
