Just got a Blitz Induction kit. Filters made of mesh. It seems it can't be too good at dust filtration?
Any comments or knowledge otherwise?

Hi there,

I run a Blitz (like a lot of people) and have no problems...

A few people have had problems on their V5 cars. These cars use hot-film MAF/AFM and are more sensitive to particles. I believe they deduced it was the poor filtering of the air filter that made them go faulty. Previous versions use hot-wire which is more robust.

Cheers,

J.

So as I've got a V5 are you saying it wouldn't be wise to fit it?

Hi there

All I know is that there were 2 or 3 V5 owners whos AFM/MAF went faulty since fitting the blitz (some were on their third sensor).

No one was absolutely sure if it was vibrations or filtration. Although I believe the final decision was that it was a filtration problem. As one had his "firmly fixed" and someone had his fixed using the standard brackets. Either way.... 2 or 3 owners with V5 cars, using blitz induction filter and a knackered AFM/MAF isnt a good sign.

cheers,

J.

It wasnt the Blitz that was causing the problem it was the HKS Induction kit ???? I dont know about the Blitz with stainless mesh filter, although Power engineering sell them, perhaps you could give them a call and see if they are aware of any problems ????

Ok..I'm dumb...

It was the HKS Mega flow induction kit (oil type) and not the blitz.

Thanks for correcting me Ian.. *I'll sit in my lonely quiet corner*

Firefox,
Thanks anyway. I'm still a little unsure about how good they are at filtering.

Cheers

I use a Blitz cone and have been checking the internal surfaces/mass air flow meter for any signs of reduced filtering and so far (in approx 3000 miles) I've seen none.

Have to say that its dead easy to clean ... soapy water, rinse and use the hairdryer ... job done.

Make sure that its properly mounted and bracketed.

From the Blitz website it states that the cone filters, filter to 20 microns. I don't know if this is good or bad though!

FYI

Howdy..

20 microns is fine...

I live and drive in a dusty/dirty area (too dusty to put your washing out). I checked the inside of mine and the AFM/MAF, and it was fine - lovely-jubly and clean

I must admit when you look at the design of the HKS its has a large grain foam construction (two layer if I remember correct, finer on the inside - but there again they are oil based) and doesnt seem to filter that good.

Blitz stay cleaner and look better

J.

ps - Thanks Ian...glad to see I can get away with one..
