I am sorry to lower the quality of this page, but can someone tell me what a PE phase 1 is, does and stands for?

I assume it concerns remapping and power hikes. How much money? How much power? How safe? is there a phase 2,3,4.....?

Thanks in advance.

PE stands for Power Engineering.

Phase 1 refers to the engine type used in the Impreza. All UK cars up to 98MY, and STi IV are phase 1. All cars produced after this have the Phase 2 engine, which has a completely different ECU.

How much power ? look at Paul Strongs Dyno page.
How much, £650 plus vat I believe that is still the price.
Is it safe ... well given that the car can be mapped for either 95 or 98 ron (your choice) and that David spends nearly 5 hours on each car then I would say yes. I've done two track days and some 4500 miles with mine with no troubles.

To anyone else reading this, have just looked down the list of replies to the topic just below this one on the page. I think perhaps with the exception of the price, I have the answer to every question about PE phase 1 that did does or will ever exist. Sorry for wasting your time.

The name Anders rings a bell to me. Are you the same person with 22B EGO. If so, thanks for the coke and the drive, I have now bought the car based on how cool yours was. Obviously a wrx is not a 22B, but it i closer than a 16V Golf.

Adam.

Yes, Anders is Mr '22B EGO', but I'm sure he'd prefer it if you didn't discuss his 'medicinal' habits on the BBS!!!!!

My drug of choice is alcohol!
Hard drugs are bad news and very expensive........I need to run SUL you know.

Doctors actually use cocaine in nose operations to stop excessive bleeding "epistaxis"!

Doesn't that make it rather hard for them to concentrate?
