In answer to your question.
As far as I'm aware, Mark at Lateral performance does not do a 20g conversion.

Just for the record ,mine is a my99 with straight inlet
It seem that there is not much difference in spool up between the two
And what was it the price was ,if you donīt get a TD05 in exchange??
I plan on selling the one i have as it has only done 8k miles.

the 372bhp car is mine, i used 1 mil per litre of NF octane booster on the rollers when i made that figure as thats what i use day to day as i have a very heavy right foot
i get only background noise on the knock display at max sensitivity so even when i am giving it a good thrashing its safe
oh, and it holds 1.35 bar of boost on the road not 1.25!

Yes, it has a TD05/06-20g fitted, complete with the 20g compressor and compressor cover on it. Jonny fitted a big bore 90 degree silicone hose in the std location.
I was surprised how well it worked Saves a lot of hassle lifting the manifold, moving PS pumps etc.

Have spoken To Mark @ lateral performance and he is happy to supply the same turbo that i had from you Andy, bit closer to home
There was one thing that i wasn't happy about with your turbo which Mark is going to Address for me...
Shouldnt be any probs as it will use the exact same parts as you, but with a Different actuator this time...

Is there a problem with boostcreep and compressor surge on the TD05/06-20G?????
As i have had the problem on my TD05.......
Can it just be run with a dawes a around 1,3bar without compressorsurge????

It's worth a try I still have reservations using a strong spring, if the exhaust backpressure builds up excessively pre turbine at higher rpm I want the wg to blow open rather than hold in the pressure and potentially overspeed the compressor.
High boost such as 1.8 bar is just not necessary on tubular headers, 1.4-1.5 bar will produce the same power as 1.8 will on std headers.
It will be interesting to see how the 2.5 responds to the 20g JB's should be the first mobile test bed shortly

Thanks Steve, I think 440bhp is probably its limit on a 2.0 (depending on rolling road) may squeeze another 12 out of it yet though Re Skassa's question, how do you find the spool up ?

Spool up is excellent....... its like a rocket from about 3200
But then thats compared to the VF series.......
You can get a fair bit of surge but then you can remove that through a good map ....... as far as the actuator goes - no final problems as I could tell
I think this Turbo is a good compromise between low lag and out and out power. I can certainly notice the difference compared to the VF22 Hybrid (which is a good Turbo in itself!)
That extra 12 bhp would be nice plus I am not going to get chance to map with water injection until after xmas when this should give a few more horses
If I get a run at Power Engineering we'll see what power it gives on less than the sort of boost I was running with the VF22.... but I also have headers.......

Hi,
How much does it cost to have an old TD05(unknown condition) reconditioned and converted into 05/06 20g with front entry?
To fit MY 98 UK car. Must be a few people on here that have done this now.

You're not very aware then Andy, Mark will fit whatever wheel you want inside the TD06 compressor cover.
I see that Forced performance now do jsut the compressor covers, so I would be very interested to try the TD06 cover with a Garret 56 trim wheel, which they also sell, and for less than the 20g. Although that would require more machining work to be done.
Ģ590 seems quite a lot considering the price of the parts, wasn't it cheaper a while ago?

Just how big is the spool difference between the FE TD05-16G and the TD05/06-20G.
Iīm considering changing the TD05 i have got to the TD005/06-20G to make a little more power on a lower boost..
Right now my TD05-16G makes full boost (1,4bar)at 3700rpm with a manifold,but i pulls strong from around 2800rpm(From the butometer).
This makes 336hp/6650rpm 412nm/4050rpm
If You compere this to the power that the Td06-20G makes,how much boost would be needed to make the same hp??.

A recent mapping on an early WRX (still fitted with the 90 degree inlet) produced 372 bhp at 1.25 bar. That boost is available from approx 3300 rpm on headers. Typically there will be approx 0.7bar at 2700rpm (10psi) ie std boost for an early car so it is pulling well from there.

Price tends to fluctuate with exchange rate and the availability, price and condition of donor turbos. Currently Ģ850 outright.
Paul - I'm not advertising, just answering questions. Similar to you with your injector kits

On the 372 bhp car I refer to, it was run on the rolling road with NF octane booster, although the car was mapped on the road without octane booster. The owner uses the NF to increase the safety margin he has.

For a 2.0 engine I think the 20g wheel can be improved on, and a Garrett one in a similar flow spec is less than hald the price (for just the wheel) but you would need to machine the cover I guess.
