Hi everybody

I have noticed in the past few days that my car will start to hunt for revs at idle after a burst of hard acceleration. It will sometimes do it when the engine is cold too. But most of the time it holds the idle fine. Its only a small fluctuation in revs, but it's bugging me

I have got a feeling its a failing maf. But I though I would get some of your view's before I go and buy a new maf sensor.

Thanks

disconnect it, see if it idles fine.

if it does, it's likely to be on the way...

Steve

caveat: don't forget to reconnect it before you go anywhere....

Another thing to do - reset the ECU, try the idling, and then disconnect the MAF - the ECU can learn it's way round the problem to the extent that the difference may be marginal - resetting the ECU means it will be assuming the MAF is in perfect condition & therefore the problem will show more clearly

I had exactly this on my MY99 2 weeks ago. A new MAF (£62.56 + VAT)cured the problem.

Perhaps I should have reset too?
