Plot of my 3 dyno runs at Well Lane

WL 3 was on 26 October 2002
WL 5 was on 18 May 2003
WL 6 was 12 October 2003

Changes between 3 and 5, changed from 2.5 down pipe magnex centre and SS back box, to 3" downpipe and HKS Hiper.

Changes between 5 and 6, OBX headers, WI (mainly for safety), new inlet pipe and fuel reg.

Surprising difference for me, as the car feels far stronger on the road in every day driving, and it has performed better on the drag strip (understandable from the graph).

Steven

I lost quite a bit low down with the big bore gruppe-s headers and up-pipe but did gain higher up. the car felt like it would happily pull right to the limiter.

I now run the smaller bore gruppe headers and up-pipe and have gained a bit low down but the power peaks earlier and can be felt dropping off before the limiter. I think my set are in between standard headers and the big bore headers , for performance gains and driveability.

have you any runs from power station?

do you and dave wallis fancy coming up to a star(SIDC) r/r day?. it would be interesting to see how the best proven MD304 in the country does on our rollers.

edit to make sense.

John, i have only ever run on WL rollers, easier to compare for me then.

When is it? Will need to get clearance from Emma, as the house is getting ever so more important, even though its at the top of the list. Dyas/weekends playing with scoobies doesnt go down brilliantly.

know how you feel about the house. I am about to start on my house. had it been in better shape I would have tried to get a crowd of you southerners up for the event but it's like a bomb site. I should be buying a kitchen and bathroom suite but keep getting drawn to a decent clutch and AP's at the moment (john, hoping the burd doesn't see that).

it would be good if you could make it before you go daft

looks like 9th and 23rd nov would suit best for a crail run david. I think there will be a second r/r date, perhaps speaking to teknopete or dougster could get something organised. if it was the second date, all going well we may even see jb's car.

I recently fitted an Apexi Power FC and mapped Alan Bells car, without a doubt it was much quicker than it was previously, four different people said it was like 'night and day' the difference.
Seat o' pants meter estimate was approx 340bhp & 320lb-ft
He ran it at Well lane and it made less torque than it had done previously running virtually standard boost. The print out showed 260lb-ft
Notably at the rpm point that it really comes alive on the road, the torque curve on the print out went totally flat line ? I suspect it was slipping on the rollers between 4400 and 5500 rpm due to the sharp increase in torque at this point.
Has your torque curve got a 'flat' bit in it ?

Get to G force I say

David

If you're coming up take the A68, it's much more fun than the A1

Just watch for the bikers in your mirrors !! (getting smaller of course )

When I was at Crail a couple of weeks ago, Dastek had a stand. Not sure if that is the only name they trade under, but I have seen adverts for their rolling road. While it is their own product, it doesnt look too much different to the Dyno Dynamics that G-Force use. The knurled rollers look almost identical, so I would assume that most cars would grip pretty well on them.
Dastek are the makers of Unichip etc, and I think a place called Storm performance in Scotland was the first place I ever heard of them.
Maybe they might be worth a look, as it would be a bit closer for most, than G-Force.

Just a thought??

I was just about to type the same stevie.

I have been told that they are having an open weekend, the first weekend in november. first come first served at £15/run as a promotion type thing.I have also heard the rollers are in an air conditioned pod.

I have never checked if this is definitely the case but will see what I can find out.

sounds nice..

Would be nice if there were decent rollers / tuning setup near leeds..

I can get any sort of engineering done but not dyno work..

How many people have engine dyno's in the country??

David

John you referring o me about going mad?

I would be up for a run on the rollers and a track day.

Andy, did you map Alans after i fitted the headers? As i went out in his car after fitting them, and based on the power delivery of my car, i estimated his to be in the region of 270, IIRC it ran 290. Torque was good, but not in the same league as mine, and as a passenger i thought i would feel it more, IYKWIM.

Mine comes alive at 2750 on the road, and goes silly at 3250, at 3400 i have a definate 1.4 bar of boost now. I am a lazy driver once i get into the urban area of leeds, so leave in 4th gear a lot. Car has to pull from 1500 quite often in 4th. It has no problems at all, except for when it gets to 2500, which just goes silly, and you have to be carefull of the car in front.

Would look forward to a day up norh, could make a weekend of it, and take Emma and kids away

If you want to look at my muddy, green 406 you are welcome but it is not very interesting, wouldn't take a trip from Englandshire for it

How come the WL6 BHP flat lines at 360??

I know the boost probably tails off that high.. but looks a bit
more of an abrupt tail off and level out than I would have expected to see?

I ask Barry to keep his foot planted until it hit the limiter, he did, and thats what the graph showed.

All the other runs tail off..

Did it not pull completely to the redline before but does now?
