Ie.. is it safe to boost the octane rating of ..say..optimax , up to 100ron just for occasional driving days or will anything need adjusting / changing to make such use perfectly safe,and how much better will it perform ,mild improvement or quite noticable?

Theres been loads of threads about this most reckon that Optimax is just supermarket 95 + boosters so theres not much point in adding more booster. BP SUL + booster will up the RON, but you will notice very little difference unless you do an ECU reset at the same time as the ECU will have learnt to cope with whatever you have been putting in to date...

I'm no expert but I think that's the general opinion on here

Booster with Optimax makes a huge difference, but not to a UK, the ecu will advance as far as it can then stop, you need to remap to get any real gain, its perfectly safe to do it though.

cheers, i take it that even optimax with a booster and an ecu reset won't make much difference over normal optimax (with ecu reset)...?

Optimax with booster will make a difference in import vehicles that have not been remaped for uk fuel.

Optimax with booster will not make much (very small) difference in a uk spec car or an import that has been remapped for uk fuel.

You can test it and see what difference it makes in your vehicle
