Not sure what you've got there mate, but I'm pretty sure it's not gonna be the same as a Z4.

A W6 is from and early WRX
A W9 is from a 94WRX RA

Both had very similar maps, and both peaked at 11.5psi. A Z4 peaks at 12.7psi.

Out of all the ECU's I've seen, and I've seen a few. I have yet to come accross a W8.

A W9 is from an early RA (as mentioned above). The map is near identicle @ 11.47psi peak.
A ScoobyECU in the W9 can give you 15.5psi, mail me for more details.

Just double checked and the W6 and W9 have identicle Performance maps i.e Fuel/Ignition/Boost/Boost-Control/Fuel-cut. So if you have a W6 you will notice no difference.

Dan,

Send it back and buy a ScoobyECU from Scott... That will fit into your original W6 .

Edited to add: ...and get you close to 260hp.

Should get you the right side of 260BHP.
A W6 produce 240PS with 11.47psi
A Z4 produces 260PS with 12.7psi.

ScoobyECU for a W6 will be 15.5psi...I'll leave you to work that one out.

Anyone know a table that shows the ECU codes and expected boost (peak and constant?). Would be a useful ref. tool

By the way, Scott, I am running a 4 W (or is that W4?).
Your task today is guess what car(s) that comes from and what boost I should have.

Not ever seen a W4, but my guess is it's a Legacy ?

All WRX Saloon ECU (W6, W8, U8, 2C) are 11.47psi held, with the exception being the WRX95/96 Z4 which is 12.7psi dropping to 11.7psi at 6600rpm.

All WRX Wagon ECU (3B, V9, V5) are 10.5psi, then starts to drop at 5000rpm to 6.84psi at 6200rpm.

STi V2 (ECU 7K) is 13.17psi, with a small peak to 13.64psi. Dropping to 12.7psi at 6600rpm.

STi V1 are just confusing and have yet to be convinced I have seen a genuine STi ECU for this MY

UK/Euro Saloon and Wagon (V7, 7D, 6D) are 11.47psi peak dropping to 9.47psi at redline

Prodrive UK are 13.64psi, dropping to 12.71psi at 6600rpm.

The W4 is out of a 1997 Forester S/tb Jap Import.
It was doing a peak of 13.7 psi with a constant 10.5 to the 7k red line.
With an exhaust and filter change (d/pipe cat still in) it does a peak of 16.3 psi and falls back to just under 11psi.

I was hoping you'd tell me it was the same as the WRX 5 door, but the boost levels seem quite different.
I assumed that as they had the same 240 hp then they would be the same. The engine is an EJ20G with 9:0 compression.
Any ideas what cna be done in terms of altering the ECU as it seems to fall (age wise) between getting either a Scoobyecu and an Ecutek?

Nick

Dan,

Mail me and I'll send you all the info...

With regard to the 1997 Forester...it probably falls into the 97/98 ECU slot....not alot out there without full ECU replacement or lots of piggy back stuff i.e Apexi, HKS etc...etc...

The last STi Version 1 ECU I saw was a '2C', but I have my doubts it was a genuine STi...
Most dealers seem to advertise the majority or WRX as 'STi and 280ps' which kinda fools the un-knowing punter.
