HKS SSQV Purple or Gold

I accidentally did this on mine when I first got it. What I did was slowly loosen the bolt until quite slack, then tighten up by finger and finally slowly by spanner until you feel the resistance begin. Then I've basically tightened up little bit more. After that just go for a drive with the window open and listen. Ideally if you have one check the noise against the boost guage.
Forgot to mention if you do get boost leak your engine should stall on idle.

Did u put a purple insert into it??? It doesnt come with a purple insert as standard. The standard SQV has a purple centre but that is it. I got mine thru on monday but have no engine to try it on
The tighter the screw on the back, the more of a flutter u will get. This happens when the dump valve cant open and the air instead is forced back over the blades in the turbo and back out of the air filter, its called reciprocation I think.

Hi All
Just got received my HKS SSQV today which has the Purple insert. Just wondering if anyone has the Gold 1 and what difference is there with it? I also adjusted/loosened the screw at the back which was fully tightened and caused it not to dump very well, but wondering now if loosening could cause boost to leak?

The stock insert is the silver mercedes flange. The purple one is supposed to sound like an echo(?) and the gold one is quiet. I've removed the silver one altogether and don't get the high pitched chirp anymore, sounds a bit beefier now

Thanks WRX Blues. Do your engine revs rise by about 1000 revs when you clutch at around 2500rpm? Mine is doing this, although it shows the valve is dumping well, I wonder does it have any negative effects?
Nad, when I look at the front of the DV there is a purple piece with 3 fins on it. I presumed that this was a purple insert which is said to be quietest? I have ordered the gold 1 which is supposed to be the loudest.
