Has anyone ever challanged the difference between the 2 mentioned downpipes?

Jap innovations downpipe
Scoobysport downpipe

The scoobysport downpipe is £60 more than the jap innovations downpipe!
Is there a just reason for this?
Reason being I am looking at buying a downpipe at the moment and am unsure which way to go.

Thanks

H&S have been developing these systems over the last 20 years, superb quality, great service & superb knowledge. Many a Scoob is fitted with an original H&S system.

Go with the Hayward and Scott system.I have, and you will not be disappointed with the extra performance and sound quality.

I may be wrong, but, last time I checked the Jap Innovations downpipe uses a regular exhaust flange where it joins the center section (like the center to backbox), whereas the H&S pipe use a donut gasket and loose flange like the OEM exhaust. This means that you need to use their center section aswell.

Jap innovations downpipe uses original downpipe donut. Fitted mine recently and it mates perfectly to magnex catless centre and to turbo, all holes and brackets in the right place. It looks very similar to all other open neck downpipes I have seen, but is £149 + vat.

As I said I could be wrong. From what I have seen the JI exhausts are a nice bit of kit and certainly sound the part.

I have a an original Scoobysport 3in d/p - which provides good performance - BUT has a poorly designed and finished collector that generates a lot of noise. 5db more than other d/ps I have used.

I recently helped someone change a turbo with the new H&S d/p and it is similar to the original SS item - but has a far superior design and finish on the collector giving a much better control of noise. And personally I believe that noise is an indication of poor gasflow.

I have this mated to a 3 1/4in straight through system from Herbourne Enterprises

H+S know their business and until earlier this year supplied all Scooby Sport exhausts but ceased supply because of disputes over non payment and now sell their products direct.
The Jap Inovations is a good product and some of the higher power cars run them. Ask Rich Wild for instance.

Hi Harvey,

Thought my ears were burning

Well, funnily enough I've got one car with the Jap downpipe on and one with the H&S one but that one is their full 3" version and I can safely say there isn't much difference between the 2.

Finish on both is top notch, power gains are excellent and exhaust note is pleasant on both too.

Cheers

Rich
