Removing Intercooler
#1
Any one able to tell me how to remove the stock intercooler on an '02 Sti UK?
I cant see a way to remove the hoses on the bottom. Reckon there is a knack to it
Thanks,
James.

I swapped mine over today (MY00) and I guess the newage is the same
two bolts (one either side, although I guess you figured that )
undo the jubilee clip on the intercooler to throttle
undo the jubilee clip on the intercooler to turbo (turbo end)
remove the dump valve pipes
lift out the intercooler
10 minutes max

The intercooler to turbo pipe can be quite difficult to get off the turbo. It takes patience and careful levering with a couple of large screwdrivers or the like. Sometimes a fiddle to get it back on too. Have to be careful not to split it.

The Turbo pipe is a right royal PITA to get back on. I ended up using a 12" long socket wrench to coax it back on.
Not something I want to do often

LOL
Im no mechanical god, although I have replaced gearboxes in the past in pitch black (but that was a very long time ago)
Mine must have been easy, although I imagine the oil on the pipe made it slide some, in fact I actually found the Samco hose more difficult to get back on, than the OE one
