as it says !

could someone tell me the difference between WRX bottom end and Legacy Turbo bottom end please ?

I have had trouble sourcing a replacement engine and have the offer of a Legacy Turbo bottom end as an alternative, is there many differences or are they the same ?

Cheers !

Wink

just the pistons are different. reason for this is due to the difference in the heads, combustion chambers etc. if you fit a legacy bottom end to wrx heads, you will get det even at about 1 bar boost.

ian

if you have wrx pistons to fit in the legacy bottom end, this will be fine.

If it's a MY89-93 bottom end it will be closed deck which massively increases block rigidity and reliability. As for the pistons, compression ratio will probably be altered when you stick with the Legacy pistons. But they do have longer skirts so piston slap is never an issue.
