Car is now at the garage awaiting assessment - recovered twice today by Greenflag, excellent service.

1st incident - sudden increase in temp guage and pulled over fluid spewing out through over flow tube (white bottle). Recovery vehicle came out, did checks, refilled system, pressure tested etc, all ok, stable, so on I went

40 miles later same thing - overheat and almost all loss of water fluid - car flat bedded away to garage - embarrassing as all the cars I'd been screaming past were now passing me. LOL

Any ideas appreciated?

Any good point to the day? Yep, afterburner fitted, awesome ....

Cheers

Shaggydog, a guy at work had this same thing this week on his Jeep Cherokee, the only thing I could think of at the time was an airlock in his cooling system, but the same as you it happened later that day aswell he took it to the garage and one of the mechanics found a small split in one of the hoses, this was allowing air to be drawn into the system then it would blow the water out of the system once the air content got to a certain amount, could be something worth looking at on yours m8.

check the rad cap on the header tank because if its knackered the system will not get up to pressure and the water will just overflow all the time into the overflow tank near the battery..

Thanks again

Now heard from the garage, seems that I've got some cool spots on the rad so not working that efficiently - with the hot weather we've had its exposed the weakness

They did a 'gas sniff test' around the header tank cap, a bit high but all within limits - will get a new cap anyway

No water out back pipe - dry as a bone so head gasket ok

Samco hoses are all ok

So a new rad seems to be needed .. anyone know where I can get one in good nick 2nd hand? Price??

Spoken to Subaru who do an exchange where you give them your old one and you can get a replacement for £170+VAT. Good deal??

Cheers

on checking with Subrau they are reconditioned rads so not such a good deal me thinks

erm your plates, it just depends on your (bad) luck so good luck!

210 for an a/burner money well spent, at least the hanger is on the right way :P

Mine did the same couldn't tell where it was comming from, it was a slight split in the plastic end caps of the radiator.
