The alternator clashes with the SPA oil sensor using the Le Mans LMA fitting previously suggested. Apparently I need an kinked extension piece to get it out the way. I was sent some pictures but am not any wise about what I actually need to buy.

Do I need something that screws into the block and ditch the original adaptor? Or do I get something that goes into the Le Mans adaptor off at an angle to allow the sensor to clear the alternator?

You could do a couple of things, I haven't tried any yet, but will do in the next few days.

I thought a 90º fitting should do it, being taper threads, you should be able to align it to point pretty much where you want.

Mounting on a remote tube would also work, made from brake hose style fittings using 1/8" NPT 90º off the block and stow the sensor under the manifold somewhere.

John,
Leave the stock one connected and fit the pressure sensor above No.3 piston (under Intercooler).

Remove the blanking plug (which has an allen key head) and fit Lemans LMA067 £3.50 (M18x1.5 to 1/8NPT) or get a similar item from ScoobyMania £10.

P.S I'm assuming it's a 1/8NPT sensor you have, if not Lemans should have a BSP.

P.P.S Oops not under your intercooler ! as you have a FMIC

That is where I have the temperature sensor though but I could swap them. I don't want anything on the sump.

I've got the LMA067 (shown in the picture with the pressure sensor) already.

I went the way of using about 12" of braided hose. The nice chap at Le Mans will make it up for you for a good price & will explain what you need. (A "cheating piece" to allow you to connect the pipe to the block...)

I then made a nice bracket to hold the gauge sender to one of the header tank bolts.

Sorry, I've not got a camera, or I'd put up a pic.

I have another question!

What did you do with the early warning switch thing that was there? Have you used the output from the SPA to trigger it? Or just done away with it altogether?

Thanks guys. I just disconnected the standard oil pressure light when using the SPA gauge, but reconnected the standard one for road testing as I needed an alternator. Plan was to leave the standard one off if I have the SPA as I can set warning lights etc.

I think ScoobyMania do one with some aeroquipe hose for fitting under the alternator.

Those pictures i sent you John of my installation.

What parts are you unsure of?

If you want you can post the most relevant picture on here. It may help others doing the same thing.

Parts - what they were... looked very neat though. I think I'll go for the easy option and just swap temp/pres around unless there is a very good reason not to (I know #3 is thought to be hotter hence temp there but I am not going to be cooking things with my engine oil at my "low boost" 450 BHP )

I'll post the piccies in a mo.

So that'll be 3 90 degree fitings and a T piece.
(Couldn't remember)
