Forge VTA DV making hardly any sound, help

I just fitted a forge VTA DV to my tek2 my99 and i can hardly hear it, i used the red spring and it'll only hold 1.15bar too
I used to have a cheap baileys on my fiesta and it made about 20x the noise this one does, are these supposed to be so quiet?

1.15 bar is entirely within spec for Tek 2.
Stronger spring means that the DV opens less often and opens less. It will only really open when there is a big pressure drop across the throttle body.
If you are going to get into all that pi$h about tuning it for a particular sound that is a different matter entirely

My problem is John that the car usually holds 1.25Bar, so the spring isnt holding closed enough and i'm leaking pressure am i not?
And when the pressure drop does occur it hardly makes a sound, the sound it makes is nice, its just that you can barely hear it, i'm guessing if I make the spring harder using the shim then i'll get less leakage and less sound as it wont open and i'll just end up just have suceeded in blocking it off completely?

Hot day? Tek 2 aims for 16 PSI held boost. 18 PSI held is not what it is mapped for and not what it is supposed to run. Either your boost gauge is wrong or the boost control was not working properly (MAP sensor hose leak can do this) as the ECU given time in a higher gear should pull it down to target. It tries quite hard if you are over 17.7 PSI on a Tek 2 to pull it down sharpish. Unless your new dump valve is leaking (VTA) on boost it should not reduce the boost at all at WOT.

Its a TEK2.5 fitted by a reputable company who say 1.25bar is about right, its always read 1.25bar on WOT in a high gear, it peaks at more but always holds around 1.25bar until the real end of a gear when it trails downwards to 1.0-1.1bar, all i've changed is the dump valve.

just put in the blue one.
I've had the same "problem" and i changed it into a blue one.
Driving @ 200km/h it start leaking in 5th gear. Doesn't bother me much though.Under full throttle it just work's fine.
An other thing what might help is putting on some grease on the inside
i'm running tek3 @ 1.25 bar

John its a tek2.5, but it wasnt mapped, so i'm guessing its actually really a tek2 which like you say is 1.1bar
I've put the blue spring in now, sounds great if not a bit quick.
Still holds 1.1bar, I see your point john but why would a standard recirc cause my gauge to read 1.25 held and a vta 1.15 like its mapped for then? Does this mean the car is now safer?
BTW, I got the hp figures on the left with the recirc at PE last time around and they said it was running lean (MAF sensor), so now i'm going again tomorrow with the VTA and see what happens

Running a VTA on a maf based car is NOT recommended, you are much better off (and safer) with a Forge recirc plus suitably adjusted spring, the VTA can affect your fueling (ie send rich) and will cause reverse pressure pulses on lift off that can damage the maf, as you say its already leaking, don't jeopordise your engine for a "max power" sound.

Sorry to butt in on thread. I too run a VTA forge dump v/v and have been having alot of pops and bangs from exhaust. (rich) More so recently and frequently. Could the dump v/v be causing this and if so what are the risks involved. i.e should i remove it
