As mentioned, NVH is noticeable with the gearbox mount (but just a little 'whiney' in the lower gears) - not so when I added the engine mounts. I've heard that the rear diff should also be done....

Have uprated STI mounts on my JDM STI7 typeRA. Wouldn't say NVH goes up by much on the move. Only when idling is it a tad "rougher". Definitely bearable, would say an aftermarket back box would cause more NVH.

John,
I only have replaced the engine mounts for STi Group N version. Only at some revs (between 2k and 3k RPM), the difference is noticable.
Mark.

small drive on ramps (the sort you put in front of the wheels) ought to do it. I think you might be able to do it by jacking the motor and dropping the subframe.
No sure as I've never done it.
Dropping the gearbox (to remove trans mount out of the equation) would deffo allow it to be done.

Support the engine, drop the gearbox cradle, remove old, fit new, refit cradle, remove engine support.
15-20 minutes if you've a friendly garage with a ramp.

Don't forget to use uprated diff mounts - they are a bugger to fit - you can get them from powerflex. Even with my lowly 350bhp I would get the rear diff banging the underbody.

I had fitted sti group n engine and gearbox mounts supplied my mark @ lateral performance. I noticed no difference in the noise levels, but I can confirm they are much better than the standard sti ones I had. I did have trouble with some knocking going around corners, but with fitting this, it has curred that problem.

I'm running the uprated Sti Gearbox mount and Powerflex all round, waiting to do the engine mounts.
Gearbox sounds are certainly more noticable, but other than that it's not too bad.
Biggest issue I have is with the rest of the Powerflex bushes...you feel everything, which for the road is very tiring. In many ways I wosh that I'd kept the standard suspension bushes just uprating the diff mounts would have probably been good enough...for the road.
I only hope that once I get the suspension properly set up and then get on track it's all worth it
