Hi guys,

Been searching for a clutch for quite a while now. The cheapest I had been quoted previously was £190 for the kit.

Borg and beck are selling a complete kit for £85 including postage!!!

Is this deal too good to be true like it sounds?

I'm interested in talking to people who have actually had the clutch fitted to see what the quality is really like.

The clutch comes with a three year guarantee too!

Can it get any better??

Try these guys http://www.autospares-group.com/about.htm
If i remember they are cheeper than the price youve got.
I think im right in saying that Borg & Beck cluthes are the ones Subaru fit as standard so they cant be that bad ...can they?

Have replied to your email Steve.

As I said in the email it is only the same spec as Standard..

My standard was slipping on the power I am running but it was just worn.. (124,000miles possibly so no wonder it was slipping, no evidence of it being changed in the fairly comprehensive history)
new Borg and Beck and no slipping (or judder ... YET!)

Mine came from Autospares too and it is something like £85.65..
Brilliant service was with me next day and happy with the quality of it.

Cheers

Will be getting one of these when I need one... Damn good price too. I paid more then that for my Borg & Beck Series 1 Turbo clutch a few years back.

Hi guys. I'm gonna change my clutch soon as its slipping on steep hills. I was told that it is worth changing the flywheel at the same time. Is this right? Car is a MY93 WRX with 93k on the clock. I do get a little bit of judder when it is cold but that could be down to the clutch going, right? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks JGM. Think i'll get the clutch fitted and inspect the flywheel at the same time, then make a decision on it.

I had one fitted last month, well pleased. Even when doing a high RPM standing start (not that I do that often) there's not even a hint of clutch smell.

I kept my original flywheel.. I took it off and did the rear crank seal but refitted it..

Car is not juddering when cold like it did so it must have been the clutch or clutch plate..

My flywheel was in perfect condition, I didn't check it for unevenness etc.. but looked far far better than the secondhand one I bought which as it turned out was cracked!

Close up of my flywheel with 124,000miles on it:

You can see the surface the clutch runs on (shiny bit) there is no lip between this and surrounding flywheel and no cracks..

I also changed the flywheel spigot bearing whilst I was at it the little bearing you can see in the middle of the flywheel.
I have a good source for them if anyone wants one.. I did a double take when the dealer wanted £20 for one.. this is was just under a tenner IIRC.
