Hi guys

I have a UK MY95 with the following mods:

K + N Induction Kit
Baileys Dump Valve
Full Magnex de-cat exhaust

Now my question is I am still running the standard ECU and I'm using Shell Optimax fuel.

Is the original ECU still running as if the car had the standard air filter and standard exhaust?

If so, what would benefit would I see from an ECU remap and can this be done on a MY95 as most I see are for MY98 on?

Cheers

Hanley

You don't need a remap to run that safely. See the Scoobyshop ScoobyECU product for an excellent way to tune if you want more performance.

Hi,

I have an early car like yourself with very similar mods plus the scoobyecu that John mentioned (running in variuos maps from 14psi to 16.5psi). I've had a Lambdalink for a while now but only just got it working correctly lately and it's quite shocking how lean the car runs at one point (with activity on the knocklink).... im sure it's the induction kit. Im going to be reampping the car soon so i'll deal with that then but it's between about 3-3500rpm. You can feel the car pick up after this point.... especially when you 'gun' it in say second gear.

At standard boost i wouldn't worry about a remap but if you want to up the boost then filling in the lean spot is a good idea, together with all the other benefits a remap would yield.

Tony.

I was always told my car was running too rich, went to get it Superchipped when I bought the car 2 years ago and the guy said he couldn't do it cause it was running too rich (this was before any mods)

Mine does indeed run rich too.... at high revs. It's just this small section of the map that needs 'filling' out a bit. I certainly wouldn't worry about it at all at standard boost....

I've got no idea why the guy wouldn't do a superchip cos it was running rich..... i'd say that would help as the superchip basically justs ups the boost (with boost clamp) without adjusting the fuel or ignition to suit. Very strange..... i'd steer well clear of superchips anyway so he did you a favour.
