The first sensor of all the WRX from MY01 is a wide band.

Thumbs down

IIRC, The MoTeC "wideband" lambda sensor is actually a Bosch LSM-11 sensor, which is not a true wideband sensor. I believe the LSM-11 is a high quality regular style lambda sensor for which Bosch provide temperature compensation tables. The LSM-11 does not contain an ion pump.

hi there Moray ..... like u said the MY01 is not a wideband O2 sensor, but is in fact a 4 wire lambda sensor.

Can someone host some pics for me to post the differences ?

and please note, that only a Motec M800 (and probably PECTEL and some other units) will read a true wide band lambda sensor ..... it is also important to read the note about operating temps on 4 wire lambda sensors:

Normally the heater must be connected to mantain correct operating temperature.
In extreme cases where the exhaust temperature will exceed 800ºC for a significant amount of time the heater element should NOT be connected

Cool

Pectel T6 seems to run wideband closed loop lambda control pretty well on my car.

So if i understand correct when I want to monitor my A/F ratios accurately at full throttle with a permanent fixture then I need a 5 wire lambda sensor with a M800 ECU or Pectel T6 to read it?

Since I probably will be quite happy with my Ecutek flashed ECU when I get it back from Pete!!! Seems a bit excessive to have to buy another ECU to monitor A/F ratios:-(((

Can the standard 4 wire unit give me a reasonable indication?

Yes ..... like it says on the note, it just depends on the location, I guess that if you fit it after the turbo it would be ok, but as close as possible to the turbo like on the previous WRX's

Question

Could someone post AFR ratios/voltages for the factory (pseudo) wideband O2 sensor of the MY03 WRX/STI?
Thanks
