The wife and kids, are complaining that the exhaust on my MY03 PPP is too loud.

Anyone else agree with this and what difference to power output does fitting the original one make?

The overall performance from the Prodrive upgrade is excellent, no hesitation as reported by others on this site.

Kids are complaining that its too loud?

Are you sending them to public school or something?, now wife i can understand.

I do think that prodrive should offer a quieter exhaust for us more *cough* mature drivers (eq Prodrive 'Boy Racer' and Prodrive 'Anonymous' Models)

The kids are both girls, does that explain it?

Gave a friends son a lift home from school and he loved it, said I mustn't change it, didn't see what the problem was at all.

Girls would be complaining if its going <Very quietly> 'whim-whim', never mind 'GRRRRRR-GRRRRRR'.

Anyway, the diference in power for me was 125HP GX bugeye to 265HP WRX 03 PPP. The problem i have is my mind thinks im in my old car (almost same everything inside) and i keep doing the same thing with the throttle, leaving me 30-40mph faster (in corners) than i used to be

My solution, would be to tell them 'If you dont like it, i'll stop and you can get out and walk!'

Seriously though, I wonder if there would be any warranty issues with putting the original back box on, with the rest of the ppp kit.

Richie.

The PPP remap would be VERY unhappy if you put the standard silencer back on.

If you put a quiet exhaust on it, you will loose performance and strangle it - that's one of the reasons it's louder

Matt

(and in the scheme of things, the PPP is quite quiet! )

So my reading of the above comments are: "I have to leave it on for technical reasons"

I'll let you know what they say.

Cheers all.

Most folk I know are binning the Prodrive BB as it's too damn quite! Try a Sti Titanium system.

Seriously, as Pete says above the standard system will not get it and the Prodrive system is the quietest system there is after the Standard set up. Trust me; I have had 5 systems on my car and finally settled on the titanium one; proper noise!

You could try some “heat proof” sound proofing material in the large cavity space above the back box to absorb and deflect some noise away from coming through the back end of the car. The standard BB is huge compared to the Prodrive replacement, so you have a big void there.

Guess I’m lucky with two boys (8&6) all I hear from the back seat is; “Dad; it time form a Scooby Snack!”
