Has anyone tried the new KFC Twister?
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm KFC Twister.

I have a firestorm fitted to a fully decat scooby sport system and the sound is great, really throaty roar with pops n bangs, i love it. Must say if i did a lot of motorway miles it wouldnt be ideal.

I have a small collection of sound files, but only the ones from places like the ScoobyWorld site, exhaust page.
I have a couple of extra ones but not many...

Still looking good for the Firestorm though!

Although, as Mega said before, its probably gonna be louder on the RA due to the reduced sound deadening materials etc...

Anyone know anyone that has a Firestorm on a Type R or RA?
What was the clearance like on the rear diff etc?

Firestorm on my Type R. Clearance is good and no catching problems even though the car is lowered. Oh yeh, have i said it sounds wicked?

STi sticker is an addition.

Question

Still trying to decide on a new backbox for my 99 Type RA.
Looked at a few, but dont really want one thats comedy loud to be honest!
Now I know how loud the Blitz can be, but whats the Firestorm, or the other TSL one, the Group N backbox, like in comparison? Ive a funny feeling the Firestorm is supposed to be louder!

Was gonna go for the Ninja from ScoobWorld, really liked the sound samples of that, and the price, but was told that it probably wouldnt clear the rear diff on an R/RA, so decided not to go there...
I like the sound of the ScoobySport too, but its not big enough, and no slash cut...

Can anyone help with my question?

Cheers
Mark...

Id say the Blitz is way louder than the firestorm.

The Blitz is just plain scary

However - be a man & get the BPM Twister - that makes the Blitz sound like a Pea shooter

The BPM Twister??!!

Jeez, Ive never even heard of that!
Im even cowering at its name

Sounds like you could well and truly blow grannies off the pavement at 30 paces with that!!

So......the Firestorm could be looking good so far...

Hi Mark

I had a HKS Hiper fitted on mine, kept the stock downpipe, the Hiper is a backbox and mid. I found it too loud, to the point of being damn annoying

I had a full decat running the Hiper on my UK car and I swear it wasn't as loud as it was on my RA. I think it may have something to do with the RA having no underseal or sound deadening material.

I'm now looking for a backbox only change, the stock STi one makes no noise at all!

Hi John,

Yeah Im also looking at the backbox only.
A mate has an Afterburner on his '98 Sti. It sounds fine, but its a little too low frequency for me, looking for a bit more of a roar
And, yes the Sti zorst does kinda whisper along doesnt it!!

Ok, I wont be going for a HKS one then by the sounds of it!

Cheers

Does anyone know of any anywhere on the internet that hosts sound files of different exhaust systems for the scooby?

Looking good xxx
Slightly o/t for a mo, but what suspension you running there?

I think the new Scoobyworld Ninja system could be on the cards for me next to try, reasonably priced at under £220 and looks as good in the pictures as a Blitz or HKS system

Looks good without waking the dead

Mega,

I really wanted the Ninja box myself, so emailed Neil at ScoobyWorld, who said that he didnt think the Ninja would clear the rear diff on the RA
Give him his due, he did say that I could order one and try it, and I could get a refund (minus postage) if it didnt fit, but being in the IOM it would be a hassle (and more costly than mainland) getting it back to them...

Of course, you could get one and try it out for me on your RA and let me know if it fits ok!!

Cool

Mark

It really depends on the car...they all do sound different even with the same exhaust configs.

I have a my00 with decat scoobysport downpipe and centre + a firestorm box...the sound is wicked and soooo loud.

Paul (aka Trouser) at TSL has a 22B with a full decat and Firestorm and my car is louder ??.

A mate of ours had a P1 with a full decat and Blitz box (was loud) swapped it for a Firestorm...have to say I thought it was louder than the blitz.
In the end he had to get rid cos he did a lot of track days and the car kept on failing on the db noise test

The firestorm looks great as well..

Simon

mega stream, cheers m8, suspension is Leda B.

Previously had a scooby sport bb and at the time i thought it was great, but to look at it was nothing special imho and the differance in sound was mental, i appreciate that some people dont want there cars too loud so the ss bb will be ideal.

I cant comment on blitz but im 100% happy with the firestorm and would highly recommend it if your after a great sound.

Damn that's a bu99er about the Ninja possibly hitting the diff then

There was a quite large difference in the angle of the bend when I had the H+W Scoobysport one layed next to the original STi one.

Excellent feedback!
Cheers chaps.

Nice comment from Nellie there too, just what I wanted to hear. Would be ideal if I could decide when I wanted the zorst to be loud. Fairly normal sound level under 'normal' driving for late night coming home times etc, and when I feel like being a hooligan(!) it'll be nice and roary!

And, Mega, I recieved the following mail from Paul at TSL today after asking about the clearance...
(Hope he doesnt mind me posting it here)

Hi Mark

sensible question mate!! )

but as you can see.. it even clears the 22B diff with consumate ease!

these are £250 plus VAT so shipping etc should be around £310 or so all in

hope this helps

cheers

Paul

The shipping cost is to the IOM so may be a little cheaper for you mate!

****!
I just listened to the soundfile
Thats one angry sounding zorst!
I bet your neighbours love you!
Mind you, shouldnt be quite as loud on mine as Im not decatted, and dont intend to TBH...

I've got a TSL group N with full decat.
At low revs it's pretty quiet, which is great as i park in an enclosed car park and don't wake the neighbours.
It's fairly quiet at constant revs but when you open it up it does roar

Its gonna be comedy loud I think, but Im sure I'll get used to it!
Whether the neighbours will, is another matter!

Will post an update about how the fit is and the noise!

Markpm - you'l definately get used to it. Ive got the Afterburner sytem and i scared myself on my first drive.

I'm now driving down the road gearing down in such a way to get crackles pops and bangs. Heel toeing all the way

You'l get used to it be it TSL, Blitz, Afterburner. There all great systems.
