I lost 5th gear yesterday and someone mentioned it may be the sycrno. Took it to the local gear box place and he said it wasnt this. Im a bit dubious as i think there feeding me crap as i dont no what im on about when it comes to stuff like this. He quoted me £400 to replace this. Does this seem right to any of you ??

Also on the way home i tried to select 5th just to see if it did work for some reason and it went in no probs. Could it have just jammed or does it do this when it's knackered ?

I couldnt understand it being 5th either. I dont think ive ever crunched 5th. No one else ever drives it either.

Colin the cars MY97 with 98k on the clock. The cars locked up now for 2 weeks as were having a new drive way done so cant move it. After that i'll give you a call if i dont get it sorted.
