Please excuse my ignorance, On my MY-01 bug eye is this Ecutex a remapp of the standard ECU, Or do you have to purchase a new one? Is there any place in the North of Scotland that can carry out this upgrade.

Cheers

Les

I grew up in Ellon when I was a lad

Ecutek works by uploading a new map to the original ECU so no need to change it Your nearest mapper is probably John Banks in Fife who would hook up his laptop and hey-presto - you have a faster car

There is however a postal service (for MY99/00 not sure about bugeyes) where you get sent a pre-mapped ECU to save you travelling. I think you send them your standard ECU in return.

WREXY is right, I'm not doing the WRX at present.

I do believe Scoobysport can do a postal map for the WRX.

They'll only know if you tell them. By themselves they won't be able to tell.

Cheers,

Insurance would have a very hard job ever finding out because of the fact you simply change the mapping for the standard subaru ecu. As for servicing I'm pretty sure you'll be ok there as well because the ECU reports itself as being a standard ECU

When I had my car serviced I was told, 'it really goes sir?!' Given that I don't have a warranty anyway I put the guy out his misery

Unhappy

John Banks - Any particular reason you're not doing the WRX at present and are you liable to be doing it in the future?

This was to be my next step also and I was hoping you'd be able to do it. (I'm north of scotland also)

Anyone had any experience of the SS postal map?

Sorry, no plans to do the WRX at present, initially there was only one person in Scotland that I knew of interested for months, there have been one or two since, but not enough to get me to buy the WRX software, although a group of STi 7 owners got together and talked me into doing the STi.

The postal market has gone because of the WRX immobiliser, I don't have my own WRX to play with, plus cars are still in warranty, and the PPP for the WRX is now excellent. This all means there has not been much of a market for me for the WRX which actually suits me as I am just too busy and prefer to keep the volume low. Sorry hope you understand.

Think about a PPP or another Ecutek solution.

John,

So are there 3 different versions of flash software that Ecutek sell then? Are they the classic shaped scoob flash software, the new age WRX flash software and the new age STI flash software?

Cheers,

Wrexy.

It is rather more complex than that George, but really I mainly just do the classics and 3 new shape STis so far.
