My mum's Ford Ka's got sod all oil in it. According to the handbook it needs 10W-30, but if you can't get that 10W-40 or 5W-40 would do.
I've got a bottle of 15W-40.
What's the difference and would it be OK to use the 15W-40 stuff to top it up?

well if yer needing to drive it b4 u can get proper oil then u certainly wana stick sum of that in!!!
I'm far from an expert but i recall basic gist is that 1st number is how thick it is so 15W is marginally thicker than the ones u ideally want & thus may need a bit more warming up b4 totally hard core use (is that possible) & last number erm kkinda how good it is when at full monty so higher 2nd number good 4 track type abuse
Thanks my (VERY) basic understanding so shouldnt b a mojor issue at a guess but its a certainty it will be less healthy with no oil
