Just wondering exactly what you get in the kit. Prodrive's site says
Revised engine management system
High flow catalyst
Stainless steel sports exhaust silencer
Doesn't mention anything in detail. Yes I know you get a fuel pump as well.
Do you get the centre decat section as well as the BB and High Flow cat on the downpipe ?
Just wondering as I already have a Firestorm BB, Resonator by pass and centre decat and my dealer says he will take off the cost of the exhaust BB.
My question is, is there a centre decat section as well ?

No, there is no centre pipe swop in the kit, merely the main downpipe and the next short pipe with the cat removed, then, obviously, a replacement rear silencer. Dont forget to take both sets of keys in when it is fitted, plus, dont fill the tank over half ful, as they need to have a low enough fuel level to swop the fuel pumps over, learnt that one the hard way and had to return a few days later when the fuel level was lower

hasn't the short pipe got a cat in it ? A cold start CAT ?
I have already replaced the BB/Resonator (Which is the next section), then a short section (surely this is the centre section?)
Centre section can be described as resonator and small short section ??
Nobody really seems to know ?

4 pieces on type UK.
Downpipe with cat, short section with cold-start cat, long center section with resonator and backbox.
3 pieces on JDM.
Downpipe with cat (longer than type UK), long center section with resonator and backbox.
Hence if you fit a Nurspec R to a type UK you need to have a link pipe to replace the cold-start catted section as the UK downpipe is too short to mate with the Blitz center section.

The STi PPP uses the factory resonated center, I believe the sports-cat downpipe is longer than the standard UK downpipe and hence mounts directly to the center thus making the cold-start cat redundant (only required for Euro emission regs when new).
Edit- The above only applies to STi's, bug-eye WRX's are different again.

Almost spot on, I believe.
Probably just me being pedantic, but the cat in the "front centre section" isn't a cold start cat, it's just another cat to further reduce emmissions. The downpipe cat will do a lot more good for a cold start than this cat ever could, as it will be the slowest to warm up.
The cold start cat in the WRX is the one in the up-pipe (which the STi doesn't have) - i.e. the one nearest to the engine so it reaches operating temperature as soon as possible on start up. The bugeye/blobeye WRX is also downpipe, front centre (cat), back centre (resonator) and backbox. The difference is that the PPP for the WRX doesn't change the downpipe.

I thought the idea was that the smaller cat warms up quicker and reduces polution more effectively than the large cat that takes 10 mins or so to reach optimum temp/efficiency ?
