Without wanting to put the cat among the pigeons, as they say, I have just had the PPP kit fitted to my STi7, last week, and it had a 'performance fuel pump' fitted as part of the kit.
Part Number 44S/T5/001 in 'performance by Prodrive' box.

I know exactly what is fitted to my car, no guesswork, no opinion, just FACT.

I have got my old pump in the new Prodrive box.

The high performance pump is encased in a black foam rubber sound insulating material. The std pump does not have the foam covering, so its easy to tell them apart.

Could this be the 'fix' people are suggesting needs to take place,
taking place?

I should have mentioned also, that the ECU has a warning label on it stating 'THIS ECU MUST ONLY BE USED WITH A HIGH PERFORMANCE FUEL PUMP'.
So whoever manufactures/reprogrammed my ECU is quite clear about what is needed for safe running.

So the cat is out of the bag on the fact that there is now a new pump in the MY02 STi PPP kit as well as the MY03

I know that Days of Chelmsford have already been supplying a new pump with their PPP kit for some while, and other dealers might have been doing the same too

Ok, I don't think it will hurt to post this now - and to head off any more potential moans - please note if you have a MY02 STi PPP without a new pump having been supplied with the kit, your dealer will be contacting you to tell you to come back and have a new pump fitted FOC

Don't be surprised if your dealer doesn't know about it yet, as the pumps are only just about now in stock at Subaru UK.

Note - please do not nag Prodrive about this as it will be carried out by the dealer that supplied your PPP.

We can then go out and drive the cars and enjoy them even more

Hi Martin

Your STi7 PPP, is it using an ECUTEK based remap or still using a piggyback boost clamp? You seem to "know exactly what is fitted to your car".

Yes I know what bits are fitted, as I was shown the entire kit prior to fitment, and have got all the old items at home, but have to admit I wouldn't know how to tell the difference between one ECU and another with regards its internal specification, or electronic construction.
I have never seen inside one, so even if I was to look I wouldn't be any the wiser.
Externally it had STi written on it in felt tip pen, and had a warning label stating it MUST only be used with the high performance fuel pump 44S/T5/001.
There was another sticker regarding programming the keys, and apart from the new brass restrictor cable tied in a plastic bag to the mounting lug, that was it from what I can remember.

Obviously I will not be attempting to take it apart to look inside.

I also know the mechanic that worked on my car, but I don't suppose he will know which sort of ECU I recieved.
They don't dismantle them either.

Being brutally honest, this sort of speculation actually slows the process down as we are rushing around trying to placate everyone rather than actually getting the job done!

This is why the internet is sometimes a BAD thing........

The process that you think has been influenced was well underway, where do you think we conjoured the fuel pumps from? That's why several people were posting that we shouldn't all be panicking and chasing the dealers!!

Obviously the technical issues at your end had been resolved hence the 'Prodrive fuel pump' that came with my PPP kit.
And quite clearly my posting this thread, in no way influenced that.

What it would appear had been taking a little time to get going was IM's admission that there were technical issues that were going to be resolved, and how.

The various people posting that there was nothing to worry about were/are not Subaru/IM/Prodrive personel.
At least I didn't think they were.

My last post is not aimed as a dig at Prodrive, but is certainly a pointed reminder to IM that it isn't good business practicse to keep people in the dark.

A little more openess from IM, in an official capacity would probably have placated people much better.
Instead of yourself having to placate concerned customers, like me,
for which I am grateful .

I don't believe any dealer (The voice of IM for the customer) was able to clarify the state of play.

Certainly not me. And I don't believe Prodrive either.
IM perhaps?

If they had been able to tell customers what was going on then you wouldn't have to spendtime placating people, as you point out, and could get on with sorting the job out.

But all's well that ends well, as the saying goes.

Totally agree. If we'd been told, yes there's a problem, sorting it's in hand and will take X weeks, please don't bother your dealers as they will be contacting you individually when the pumps are available etc etc then nobody would be bothering anyone.

I guess Prodrive were caught up in contractual arrangements with IM which prevented this. Shame.

Bit like the STi7 springs saga......

The situation is that Eibach have consistently underachieved on supplying them, nothing else. I can't confirm a delivery date until I actually have them here and we are happy that they are finally to the spec we wanted a very long time ago.

What more can I do?

You could also view this thread in an altogether different light, in that as someone (me) who doesn't work for Subaru/IM/Prodrive has been able to categorically confirm that Prodrive have resolved the technical issues regarding the STi 7 PPP kit.

By printing a copy of the packaging which my uprated fuel pump came in, and my description of its physical appearance other customers can be assured that the long awaited 'fix' is genuine, and not some sort of 'fobbing off' ploy.

Which you cannot question, is something that some people were beginning to feel was the case.

I am not obliged by any legal or contractual obligations (or by recieving any coercive discounts Joke) to keep quiet about anything.

I didn't start this thread with a view to embarassing IM or even Prodrive, but in response to the 12+ pages 8000 views post started by T5NYW (Tony).

But events would indicate that lessons in corporate comunications between IM and their customer base could be improved.

One individual on here was aware of the modified pumps being fitted several months ago, at certain dealers.
Prodrive must have known as you supply the pumps.
IM must have known they were being fitted several months ago.

But most of the dealers, along with their paying (£29,500)customers hadn't a clue.

But we all know exactly what is going on now.
That surely has to be a much better situation for the public relations people at IM, as their customers can be assured their problem will be addressed, and how.

And I didn't even negotiate a discount on my kit!!

Perhaps I should have brought my car to Prodrive.
We all have our price. Its just negotiating how much

After dropping the price of the STi 8 by £2K as well as introducing more enhancements I think that IM should be offering STi 7 owners the PPP kit at a reduced price!!

I'm serverely p****ed off after having bought the Prodrive STi 7, only for it to be replaced by a cheaper car with the high boot spoiler, enhancements etc when my car is not even a year old!

After being under the impression that I was buying a pretty rare Scooby it has probably depreciated like a Ford Mondeo!

Maybe P1 owners feel the same?

But Andy, that happens to all cars and it's called improvement/evolution.

You could have bought a hot Golf and they'll bring out a hotter one, the same for EVO's etc.

You buy the latest and you'll just have to expect high depreciation, nothing stays the same and the Mini will suffer too in years to come.
