And the winner is mobile 1 as far as my legacy is concerned.Started using mobile 1 three oil changes ago and it kept the rattling tappets away for 2-2.5k each oil change. In between the mobile 1 i did try a 20-50 oil but it still rattled. This week changed the oil but used castrol rs 10-60 because it comes highly rated and got it nine pounds cheaper than mobile 1 .£35.99 -£27.00 but the rattle is still there during warm up every now and again. Castrol is better than the rest but in my opinion mobile 1 is the best.I understand that the impreza does not have these head problems but i think only in my opinion mobile 1 gives better protection.OR DOES IT. Wink

I have been using Mobil 1 15W50 the last two changes and have noticed an improvement in tappet noise over the Shell Helix the dealer used to use.. not tried Castrol though..

Question

But does less tappet noise mean it is lubricating the rest of the engine better?

both are ok... Castrol is better for modified cars, but then Motul is better still
