Question

Hi guys,

i'm after a bit of advice as far as exhaust goes. I've pretty much decided on a K&N filter for the front end, but need a bit of direction on the back end.

I want to get more power, but not through a full bore system. Wht difference will a back box alone make, which ones should i consider, what other sections should i look at?

I've heard that de-cat will release more power, but this won't pass the mot - but there are several cats in the system?

I don't want to much noise when pulling away gently, just when accelerating hard. How quiet would a good system be at low revs and acceleration?

Appologies for all the questions, but its an area I'm not too clear on. If somone could also point me to a website explaing this, it would be v helpful

cheers

si

I "had" a standard MY99 Turbo and now i have the same car with a full decat, its incredibly noisey on boost (ie people look and so on, its a real nice sound), and off boost it still makes a low burbling sound which is still noisy enough to hear if one is outside your house but if driven carefully wont really be much of a pain to your ears.

Its a hell of a lot more powerful with a full decat (downpipe, centre and back box), I did have just the back box on for a while and the volume was more to my liking and less annoying to other people and it did increase the drivability of the car but it wasnt noticeably faster on the open roads.

I suggest you go out in someones car who has a decat first, i'm contemplating taking mine back off again but going to wait and see if I can put up with the noise first.
