Question

Am i right in thinking that when the VTA DV dumps, the MAF sensor could sense a false increased air flow and alter fueling to compensate therefore making the mixture more rich, POP/BANG?
Or is this way off the mark?

Just curious to know.

Tripple x,
there are upsides and downsides to this....
When dumping with a VTA you will get more fuel going though, the down side is that your ecu may then compensate by not giving enough fuel as its seen a large ammount go to waste... ie running you lean for that cycle or 2 and thus the reason engines can go bang
The re-circ dv thats on your car will acutally still give you pops and bangs when driving (if you have a full decat) so the only gains you will have is the noise.

I see. I take it that the Lamda Sensor readings is what the ecu uses when it compensates to reduce fueling?

Hmmmm.... never heard of a VTA causing an engine go bang before. Also the engine doesn't put more fuel in because of the VTA dump valve at all. With a VTA the ecu sees a given amount of air go past the MAF sensor and so thinks this goes into the engine, however when you lift off some of this air gets vented and as such there is not as much air as the ecu thinks and so runs rich. I.e it runs rich becuase there is less air NOT because there is more fuel. Once back on the throttle the dump valve is shut and so AFR is back as it should be.

Tony.
