Question

The reason I ask is because I have been told that I can modify my car under £2K as long as performance isn't increased! I have 98 Sport but would like a new exhaust that sounds louder, throatier! but doesn't improve performance! Is this possible?

Apologies for my ignorance. Cheers PKB

No they don't - though most will claim to

The only way to be sure is to put it on a rolling road before & after......

I would be surprised if any of the exhaust manufacturers will tell you that all their product does is make a noise !

PKB, AFAIK they all will - the degree will vary from maker to maker. Why the restriction? How will whoever is putting this restriction on you know the results? Before and after testing?

being as it's a Sport you might not get the same gains you would with fitting one to a turbo'd car - you might get 2-5bhp with normally asp. cars

A one of 10" bore sraight through would probably knock off a few dozen BHP
