everybody talks about power but think over this : drop your spare wheel, and all the stuff that you don't need, like the jack, emergency triangle, amplifiers, bass tubes, then trow it on a pile and you'll be surprised about the weight off all this, with my car it was about 50 kg, now i just have to set my girl on a diet of water and cereals...

also - buy forged alloy wheels from TSL, and a carbon fibre bonnet

it's also been known for some performance exhausts to weigh so much the power gain is wiped out..

I would also be interested in any other easy weight savings. The spare and tools is an obvious one for track days, but for every day stuff, short of removing my aircon (which is staying) is there anything else that can be lightened, removed or replaced?

My options are more limited as I have a legacy, so a Carbon bonnet requires a custom part to be made up, costing £££.

Radio and speakers, you could also diet

Lose the rear spoiler, it probably does nothing but cause drag anyway.

Get some light weight bucket front seats, there's a good 20kg to save there...

Removing the spare is fine, for track days, but if your on the road or the 'Ring then it's a good idea to have it with you incase you have a problem, I've had to resort to using mine more than once!

Erm... wally, I've not often seen people posting so much total ****e in only 25 messages... can you explain me as a fellow belgian why this would ruin the diff ??? (don't try to hard, coz it won't make sense )

Or have you inhaled too much brake cleaner whilst "cleaning" your MY99/00 MAF and advising other people to do the same ?

Giving advice is good. Giving crap advice is... well... not good.

The reason that you ruin your diff : 3 wheels on the size of 17' and 1 on 16' = that one one 16' makes more turns then the 3 others because its smaller...===== as a result you will ruin your diff...!

By the way : cleaning your MAF sensor with CARBU clean is not a bad thing, using too much oil on your max horsepower K&N filter and then burn the sensor is another matter but you guys do already knew that...

the chosen tyres on the 17s should match the 16" space saver wheel enough to get you home.

You could remove the rear seats: bench and backing, could you not?

Cyclists are also obsessed with saving weight but to be honest I'm not gonna spend £500 on some carbon fibre gizmo when I can shave at least as many grams by going for a good dump before setting out...
