I have fitted a full decat pipe on my 2000 MY turbo about a month ago. All has been fine until the check engine light came on this morning. Any thoughts? Is it coincidence or has the decat caused this? I know it can happen on the new shape cars but I thought the old shape were OK.
Thanks in advance

I would say the decat and the warranty are related though so find a sympathetic dealer and get it checked out.
Otherwise remove the decat, see if the light comes on and if it does, take it to the dealer...

Funny thing was the car was on it's way to it's 2nd year service, so now I've picked the car up, guess what? they blaimed the exhaust, apparantly it was the O2 sensor or lambda sensor in the downpipe, they have reset the fault code and said it could be the speed of the gasses or not seeing what the sensor expects, is this rubbish? Or should I replace the sensor? What's the worst that can happen?

Failed MOT, emissions, poor economy, fluctuating idle is the worst that can happen really.
Decats do not cause lambda sensors to fail - if anything they would prolong the life because of the lower EGT. Speed of gas my ar$e

Mine came on the other day (just before 5,000 miles on MY02 WRX) so took it to the dealer who checked it and found that there had been a mis-fire in cylinder 3 at 760 rpm! Suspected that there may have been a bit of water in the fuel etc. Very impressed at their data though!
