Tsunami Racing Turbofoculator
#1
OK - here is a quote from Tsunami Racing
"How does it work? It adds an angular momentum to the air that passes through it in the same way that a gun ads an angular momentum to a bullet that passes through it's barrel. By focusing the kinetic energy in one direction, it gives you more horse power and better fuel economy."
Well I would love to understand a couple of things
* Creating angular momentum, requires angular acceleration which will both utilise energy and reduce gas speed into the turbo - so does this increase efficiency?
* If the angular momentum is in the same direction as the turbo spin - does this work better - or worse - and vice versa?
* The analogy with a bullet rifling would seem to be irrelevant - guns are rifled to increase accuracy over distance - at the cost of a small amount of range!
Anyone using one, are they any good, have I missed the point...
...Snake Oil anyone?

Following the 'massive gains' I experienced on the rolling road using the 'twister tail trim' on my Fiat 126 I considered fitting this as it came reccommended by another hardcore power freak mate of mine.
Fitted to my latest project (my beige Allegro Van_Den_Plas) the 'extra' air flow the turbofoculator created was 'amazing'.
Once fuelling was adjusted to cope with the increase in air I needed a testbed.
I fitted a tow rope from the car to a 'browned' rice pudding and 'dumping' the clutch at 4,500rpm the car accelerated hard, the turbofoculator kicked in and from the tearing sound from behind me I knew that I'd at least pulled the skin partially off the rice pudding! When I went round the back of the car I had managed to brutally remove nearly 25% of the rice pudding skin!
Defffinately a worth while mod IMO

Trout, Don't waste your hard earned cash. The kit only claims to increase horsepower. I've learned from this board that horsepower does not matter a **** as it is Torque that accelerates the car.
Get a smaller turbo, thats the answer. Learn from Subaru, that's what they done to the cars from 97 on.
