Looking at doing the front entry mod to my turbo, and wondering what decent induction kits are available for 97-98 cars. Currently thinking of K&N due to price, but open to suggestions.

Am looking for something that fits well, and not a PiperX foam.

wrong MAF size I think.

97-98 cars have the same MAF size as the 93-96 cars, or at least some fo them do.

Cool

Paul i have the HKS racing suction (new about £180), and will soon have the hks DD kit (new about £80) available. The DD just bolts straight onto the MAF housing, and looks better than the 1st one IMHO.

But then why are you bothered about the size of the maf housing if you are doing a bespoke front entry mod!!

Just get the hosing to fit the biggest filter going!

Watch/keep in touch with David re what we will be doing shortly for my car. Awaiting the delivery of a new filter at the moment

MAF diameter is 80mm on mine, 90mm on yours, which means if I get pipes, filter brackets etc they made need to be adapted.

I might plan a trip to leeds in the next few weeks anyway, just to tidy up a few things on Davids car mapping wise, get the zorst, and hunt around for bits to scavenge.

I could put the newer MAF sensor on and recalibrate the ecu, but that's more expense again.

Might grab just a filter and do some tubes/brackets etc to suit.

Trip to parents and associated workshop required.

Paul,

I have a K&N Induction kit (cost £35 second hand but brand new!)

It does make the car run leaner but only slightly (compared with the std airbox and a ITG panel filter) but there is more power at the top end (could be due to a slight leaning out rather than better airflow), also the boost builds quicker and spikes a little more.

I am considering moving the cone into the wing to take advantage of the cooler air in there (but being able to remap the ECU would help here as I am worried about how it will affect the MAF reading )

Somehow I don't think front entry is going to give me 350hp...

Will be easy with current turbo as it has a bolt on elbow. So I may just run the standard plastic pipe as it's easy and cheap to get hold of, along with a JJR induction kit for about £60inc VAT.

After front entry, I can see about some proper mods.
