Question

Hello,

This is my first post, so I apologise in advance for asking what is possibly a common question.

How expensive is an Impreza Turbo clutch to replace?
Do Impeza Turbo clutches normally bite quite high up?

Ok, that was two questions. :-)

First thing I replaced on my Turbo was the clutch.I got a sachs kit for £150 (cant remember where but over the net. Try any SIDC links) Fitting is an engine out job though so not the cheapest repair. clutch judder is a fairly common problem but the biting point should not be at the travel limit.

Sounds like you fitted the clutch yourself, is that right?

I've changed clutches before, but never on such a new car. An all-in price would be useful. I assume Subaru dealers are more expensive than other places(?)

I paid £300 all in on my my94 best i could find anywhere
@ www.importcarparts.co.uk

Took them 4hrs to fit not an easy job by far however Did not have to remove the engine?

Depends where you live though? as these are based in West Aukland.

Hope this helps

That's a good price!

I phoned a Scooby dealer and asked for a ball-park figure. They said £650-£700!!! They also asked if it was to include flywheel. Is it normal to change the flywheel on Impreza Turbos when you change the clutch?

No need to change flywheel unless it is cracked and on a recent car thatis unlikely. Even if scored it can be skimmed. I would be cautious of anyone saying they would replace it automatically.
Give Mark a ring at Import Car Parts, West Auckland Co. Durham. He has done several clutches and gearboxes on a same day basis for several people on here.
