cranksharft cleaning
#1
Just a word of warning for those DIYers.
When a crank has been reground the cleaning process is critical to
engine life, and on the subaru the cross drillings are sealed by
ball bearings, behind these ball bearings are sludge traps these will be full of the material from the regrind and if you have had a b/end go then expect some of that in there. These need to be removed and then tapped to take a allen key grub screw and then the sharft can be cleaned successfuly. There are some other processes
vibro cleaning and aqua cleaning thay basicly shake the hell out of it in a liquid filled tank, and well then hope for the best!
I would steer away from these.
Steve.
