Had the MoT this afternoon and was a bit worried about the old emissions test. But had nothing to worry about (as far as emissions are concerned ) thanks to a full decat + this little work of art :
For those who are interested, here are the results. Am I right in thinking it passed with flying colours or was it touch and go?
The bad news is it failed the MoT due to an 'Excessive leak from near side rear shock absorber'.
Now obviously I have to get this replaced and both rear ones will need doing. I can't afford a suspesion upgrade kit I just need to replace with standard shocks. What are my options - do I have to go to Subaru to get shocks or can I get them elsewhere (i.e. cheaper ). I will ring round tomorrow but would just like to be prepared!
BTW the car is a MY97 Uk Turbo.
Cheers,
Jamie

Try speaking to scrap yards or some of the companies that do suspension upgrades to see if they have any old stuff you could have cheap. Or try and find somewhere that does KYB's, they are cheap (about £40-50 each) and are about the same hardness as MY99 dampers, my mate runs them on his MY93WRX and likes them.
Personally I'd swap all 4, otherwise you will have good ones on the rear and worn ones on the front.

try www.buypartsby.com - I just got a quote for my late MY96. All 4 dampers came to just less than £200 including VAT and delivery
I need two fronts before my MOT next month....
